Healthcare Business Books Cleanup Questions clinics actually ask
Short answers first. A short answer sits here, and the clinic page that carries the rest is linked under it.
Ask about a monthCan you close a year if the months were never closed?
No. No return is drafted here while the months beneath it are still open. If the year is twelve deposits and no day sheets, the first work is the months, not the return. We will say that on the first call rather than discover it in March.
Do you run payroll?
No. The company the clinic already uses runs payday. We set the books up so wages, taxes, and the cash that funded them agree with that company's report. Taking over payday is outside the work, and it is said again on the disclosures page.
Is a bottle with a facts panel part of the visit?
The panel says it is a product. The visit stays on its own line. Whether either line is taxed depends on the state where the clinic sits, and we do not print a percent. See what the label decides.
Why is the bank deposit smaller than the day sheet?
Often because a processor kept a fee, or because the insurer has not paid every encounter, or because the day sheet and the bank are using different days. The fee is a cost. The unpaid encounters are still encounters if you record them when they happen. The note is the batch and the day sheet.
Which information return do I file for a clinician who is not an employee?
The form follows the payment. Medical and health care payments are reported on Form 1099-MISC in box 6. Nonemployee services in 2026 are measured against $2,000 on Form 1099-NEC. Payments made in 2025 are measured against $600. Backup withholding is filed even when the payment is small. Details and the IRS page are on which form.
Can I use one mileage rate for the whole year?
Not for 2026 business miles. The rate is 72.5 cents through June 30 and 76 cents from July 1. Commuting stays out of the log. The procedure for a treatment table is a separate question, on the table and the miles.
Can this practice sign an audit report?
No. A firm allowed to sign is where those reports belong. The same answer covers a compilation. The books, the monthly close, and the return from closed months are the work.

You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
